Rejection hurts, but it’s part of dating—and handling it with grace says a lot about you. Here’s how.
First, don’t take it personally. If he says he’s not interested in a second date, it’s not about you being “not good enough.” He might be busy with work, not ready to date, or just not feeling a connection—and that’s okay. Everyone has different tastes, and a lack of chemistry doesn’t mean you’re flawed.
Second, respond politely (no guilt-tripping). If he says “I had a nice time, but I don’t think we’re a match,” say something like “I appreciate you being honest with me—I had a good time too, and I wish you all the best.” Don’t say things like “What did I do wrong?” or “I thought we had fun—why not?” It puts him on the spot and makes the interaction awkward. Being polite keeps your dignity intact.
